River swimming


It’s summer Down Under. Everybody is at the beach. And the Conversation has an article on river swimming in Australian cities. Includes historical photography and mentions some famous swimming and diving events from the 20st century. Houdini dove handcuffed into the Yarra in 1910. Ignaz Strebel is an urban geographer and senior scientist at the University of Lausanne. His research is on the social and material practices that make up and transform urban systems.
